Misericordia University, a Catholic liberal arts institution established in the tradition of the Sisters of Mercy, fosters intellectual curiosity, critical thinking, and respect for all persons in an environment where all are welcome. As a community, we are committed to integrity and the values of Mercy, Service, Justice and Hospitality as the foundation of university life. Misericordia offers baccalaureate, master’s, and doctoral degrees and is especially strong in the Health Sciences. The University’s approach of combining a quality liberal arts education with professional preparation and service to others has resulted in its wide regional acclaim.
The University is located adjacent to the Pocono Mountains region of Northeastern Pennsylvania and approximately 2 hours from New York City and Philadelphia. Outdoor enthusiasts will enjoy the many state parks, hiking and biking trails. Opportunities abound for the arts at the F.M. Kirby Center for the Preforming Arts, the Scranton Cultural Center, local theater groups and regional art galleries. The Mohegan Sun Arena brings in a variety of shows and is home to the Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins, the AHL affiliate of the Pittsburg Penguins. PNC Field hosts the Scranton /Wilkes-Barre RailRiders, the minor league baseball affiliate of the New York Yankees. Couple this with the cost of living and excellent school districts and there is something for everyone in NEPA.
